Mikayla is an international Professional Tattoo Artist, Educator, and Researcher based in the Cleveland, Ohio area and Amsterdam, Netherlands. She is the co-owner of the award-winning Reflection Room Tattoo Co., with three locations in the United States. Her practice spans Body Art, Cosmetic Tattooing, and Medical Tattooing, with a restorative focus. She also is the founder of The Hyland Institute of Medical Tattoo. She is recognized for her floral designs, advanced scar coverage, and Medical Tattooing for NAC (3D Nipple + Areola) reconstruction, as well as highly specialized Medical Genital Tattooing provided to survivors of trauma, individuals post–gender-affirming or reconstructive surgeries, and others seeking deeply personal healing.
In addition to her studio work, Mikayla serves as the Interim Director of Research for the Alliance of Professional Tattooists, helping to advance evidence-based standards for safety and practice within the industry. She is also a PhD student researching medical tattooing through a transdisciplinary lens that bridges art, science, bioethics, public health, and technological innovation. As an Educator at both Reflection Room Academy and The Hyland Institute of Medical Tattoo, she trains future artists with a commitment to the highest level of client safety and human-centered care.
Due to international demand, frequent travel, and limited availability, her books fill quickly. Those interested in working with her, or accessing her educational programs, are encouraged to reach out early. Booking is open for both the US and Netherlands from October 3rd, 2025 to October 10, 2025 or 250 individual inquiries to allow time for proper project consideration.
Her US books will not open again until July of 2026 for 2027.
